The event was organised by MSSKL, or Malaysian Schools Sports KL, which is like the Singapore Schools Sports Council. Managed by Club Intchess of KL the event was held at KLCC where the famous and biggest Computer Trade Fair was being staged over eight exhibition halls. The exhibition organisers PIKOM generously gave space equal to 10 booths free of charge. The PIKOM chairman opened the chess event while a director from MSSM came to close it.
Derek Lim, Singapore’s World Schools Under-7 Champion, played two simultaneous matches against the local kids. He won 19 - 1 in the first, and after about 1.5 hours rest, he took the second 17 – 0.
An online match was also held between the two cities. The match was to have been over six boards of two games between the U12, U15 & U18 boys’ and girls’ champions but two KL champions failed to show up and there were no reserves. Singapore managed to squeeze out a 4.5 - 3.5 victory.

In others, training is offered as a CCA or part of the School’s Chess Club’s yearly activities. We wish all school trainees to have fun and a great time learning!
